Is this the beginning of the nightmare of public schools?

My son recently came home with an assignment about American Presidents.  In the assignment he was told to pick one president, of which he picked George Washington.  Furthermore the instructions stated the students can only use the 3 approved websites to acquire their information on the selected President.  One of the questions asked was to list which political party the selected President belonged to.  Ok and good assignment so far.  Then things went a little off, according to the site below George Washington was part of the Federalist party.  Really?  The same President who warned against having political parties in his Presidential farewell address as well as reaffirmed his status as independent was now magically through history assigned to the Federalist party? 

I know it may seem minor, but the truth is worth pursuing.  Now who do I contact about this?
