The National Fatherhood Initiative (
www.fatherhood.gov) changed their name to the National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse. I really hope this name change is a good thing and not just lipstick on a bulldog to try and fool people that they are a supportive fathers group. Then again, my gut tells me that if they changed their name then it's most likely not a good thing. Glancing at their home page and I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling on this historically questionable groups agenda. Oh look my tax dollars are supporting this group and I wonder if I was paying through my taxes for the National Fatherhood Initiative to bash fathers worldwide in the past? Kind of like paying someone to rob you.
Only time will tell and good luck National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse.

ReplyDeleteI need to correct an error in your post. National Fatherhood Initiative (www.fatherhood.org) did not change its name. We still exist with the same name.
The National Responsible Fatherhood Clearinghouse (www.fatherhood.gov) is the US Department of Health and Human Services' fatherhood initiative. It is a separate entity.
I would encourage you to visit fatherhood.org to learn about the programs we have to support fathers in their efforts to be the best dads they can be.

ReplyDeleteWow and my apologies and I'll post a correction. This was sent to me by a follower and admittedly to all, I hastily posted this one this morning.
I will say that I have spent time on www.fatherhood.org The National Fatherhood Initiative website, and as from previous posts I find your group to be focused on a small niche of absent fathers. This is an area of great concern, but as with your public service announcements seem to portray a message that fathers simply need to show up I think is extremely short sited.
I will say that I find an abundance of information and statistics on your site that is very useful to both fathers and parents alike. I think your group could have a much broader and positive impact on parenting by looking further into many other issues affecting parenting.
