Corporate Responses

Seemingly like many other people, I was not aware of the link between Susan G Komen and Planned Parenthood and thus far it's been an interesting road in voicing my opinion to the corporations who support Susan G Komen.  Two of the responses I received couldn't be more opposite if they tried and while I will not buy Frito Lay products until they stop supporting what is ultimately Planned Parenthood.  I do appreciate their response to my concerns of their support for Susan G Komen.  On the other hand in regards to General Mills at this point I don't know if I will ever be returning to buying their products.

Frito Lay Response:
(Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.  Consumer opinions are very important to us and we appreciate knowing how you feel. Please know your comments will be shared with the appropriate teams here at Frito-Lay.  We do apologize as we would never intentionally offend our consumers.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts and the constructive spirit in which they were offered.  We hope our future actions will restore your confidence in our name and will earn back your trust and support.

Best regards,

Frito-Lay Consumer Affairs

General Mills Response:

(Thank you for taking the time to write to Yoplait USA regarding your concerns about our recent Save Lids to Save Lives® program.
We have made a commitment to support the Susan G. Komen For the Cure and the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®, but we feel we are also charged with heightening awareness and participation through national marketing and merchandising efforts, such as Save Lids to Save Lives®.
While we considered a number of formats for our program designed to support breast cancer treatment, education and research, we ultimately selected the Save Lids to Save Lives® program for the unique partnership opportunity it offered and for the potential it had to raise awareness.  Because we believe that breast cancer has powerful implications for all of us, we wanted to craft a program that would allow our consumers to take an active role in combating this terrible disease by collecting and submitting the pink lids.
More information about the Susan G. Komen For the Cure is available by calling 1-800-IM AWARE (800.462.9273) or by accessing the Susan G. Komen For the Cure website at
Again, we appreciate your comments about the Save Lids to Save Lives® program.   We hope you will feel free to contact us in the future with any comments or concerns you may have regarding Yoplait.

The plus of the General Mills response is that I didn't know Yoplait was one of their product lines and luckily I can now avoid buying this brand.  What's odd is that I didn't voice a concern about the Yoplait Save Lids to Save Lives program, but rather I sent a general email to General Mills corporate.  Oh well, I never really voiced an opinion with a manufacturer and it's relatively painless and a bit comical to see the responses.
